Job interview questions and answers
Use STAR, stay punchy, and land each answer with outcomes and takeaways.
Use STAR, Keep It Punchy
Use a STAR spine for behavioral prompts and keep it punchy. Example for conflict:
“A teammate and I disagreed on priorities; we set decision criteria, tested two approaches for a week, and picked by data; we shipped two days early and cut rework by 20%.”
Answering Weaknesses
For weaknesses, pick something real but manageable, and show your system to address it.
“I used to overcommit; now I block focus time and review priorities weekly with my lead. Deadlines improved and I have fewer carry-overs.”
Tell Me About Yourself
For “Tell me about yourself,” aim for a 60-second arc: your hook, 2–3 relevant achievements, and why this role is the logical next step. End with where you want to add value first.
