Common job interview questions
Know the staples, prep flexible STAR stories, and keep answers tight.
Expect These Staples
Expect these staples: “Tell me about yourself,” “Why this company/role?,” strengths and weaknesses, conflict or failure stories, and “Tell me about a time…” behavioral prompts. Some roles add a light case or scenario.
Build 6–8 STAR Stories
Prepare 6–8 STAR stories that cover leadership, teamwork, ownership, learning fast, handling pressure, and delivering measurable results. One story can flex to multiple competencies with a different emphasis.
Keep It Tight
Keep answers tight: 60–90 seconds for behavioral questions, 30–45 seconds for direct questions. End on the result, then a quick takeaway that shows judgment and maturity.
